WWE Fastlane 2016 Review

WWE Fastlane 2016 took place on Sunday 21st February at the Quicken Loans Arena in Cleveland, Ohio. After this event, we will find out who will face Triple H at Wrestlemania. So, will it be Roman Reigns, Brock Lesnar or Dean Ambrose? Let's take a look.

The match on the Kick Off Show was a 2-out-of-3 falls match with Alberto Del Rio challenging Kalisto for the United States Championship. Kalisto gets the first fall after Del Rio hit him with a chair in the timekeeper's area, disqualifying himself. Del Rio then proceeds to destroy Kalisto and hit him with the shitty double stomp in the corner to get the second fall. In the end, Kalisto tries to go for the salida del sol but fails. So, Kalisto bounces Del Rio's head off the turnbuckle then rolls him up to get the win. This was a decent match but I'm done with this feud. Hopefully, Del Rio and Kalisto will move onto other feuds.
Winner: Kalisto (1 for 1)

The event starts with the team of Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks take on the team of Naomi and Tamina. Becky gets worn down during the match thanks to Naomi bouncing her head off the turnbuckle. Becky does eventually get the hot tag to Sasha and in the end, Sasha manages to get Tamina to tap out using the bank statement. It was a good match between the two teams. Becky and Sasha are always good to watch and Naomi and Tamina did a decent job.
Winners: Becky Lynch and Sasha Banks (2 for 2)

The next match was for the Intercontinental Championship as Dolph Ziggler challenges Kevin Owens. Even though Owens was dominant, Ziggler showed glimpses of a comeback. In the end, Ziggler misses with a superkick and almost hits the referee. This gives Owens the chance to hit his pop-up powerbomb to get the win. This was an enjoyable match and I'm looking forward to seeing Owens feud with Sami Zayn as we head towards Wrestlemania.
Winner: Kevin Owens (3 for 3)

Next was The Wyatt Family taking on the team of Kane, Big Show and Ryback. The Wyatts were dominant for most of the match as they wear down Ryback then Kane when he gets tagged in. In the end, Ryback gets out of a powerbomb by Harper and hits a shell shock to get the win. The match was enjoyable to watch, although that was nothing that stood out to me.
Winners: Kane, Big Show and Ryback (3 for 4)

The next match was for the Divas Championship as Brie Bella challenges Charlotte. The match goes back and forth before Charlotte puts Brie in the figure 8 to get the win. I thought the match was ok. Hopefully, the match involving Charlotte, Sasha Banks and Becky Lynch at Wrestlemania will be better.
Winner: Charlotte (4 for 5)

Now a match that I was really looking forward to: AJ Styles versus Chris Jericho. This match had some great moves, including both guys using some creative pinning combinations. After some close near falls, Jericho applies the walls of Jericho but Styles gets to the ropes. Styles then hits the Styles clash but Jericho kicks out. Styles immediately applies the calf crusher to make Jericho tap out and win the match. This was a really good match and I really enjoyed it. I do wonder where styles goes from here. Hopefully, he will start to climb up the card.
Winner: AJ Styles (5 for 6)

The penulimate match was R-Truth taking on Curtis Axel. In a very short match, Goldust comes in to help out R-Truth against the rest of the Social Outcasts. he throws Axel Rose into the ring and R-Truth jumps over him. Unfortunately, this gives Axel the chance to roll Truth over and pin him to win the match. The match wasn't great and it seemed to be there for filler.
Winner: Curtis Axel (N/A)

The main event was a triple threat match between Brock Lesnar, Roman Reigns and Dean Ambrose. The winner will face Triple H for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship at Wrestlemania. Lesnar proceeds to hit Reigns and Ambrose with a variety of suplexes and go on to dominate the match before being put through an announce table. Eventually, Ambrose attacks both of them with a chair. Lesnar rolls out of the ring and Reigns hits Ambrose with a spear to win the match. It was a good match and whilst I'm not a fan of Reigns, I am looking forward to seeing him take on Triple H at Wrestlemania.
Winner: Roman Reignsn (6 for 7)

I quite enjoyed Fastlane. It had some good matches which were fun to watch.
Wrestlemania looks like it will have some good matches and I'm quite looking forward to it.
