WWE Night of Champions 2015 Preview

Night of Champions 2015.png

WWE Night of Champions 2015 takes place this evening at the Toyota Center in Houston, Texas. All the Championships are on the line plus we see the return of WCW icon, Sting. Let's look at the card.

In the Pre Show, Neville and The Lucha Dragons will face the team of Stardust and The Ascension. This should be a good match and I'm going for Neville and the Dragons to win here.
Predicted Winners: Neville and The Lucha Dragons

The Wyatt Family will take on Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and a mystery partner. It could be an interesting match but I'm going for Reigns, Ambrose and the mystery partner to win.
Predicted Winners: Roman Reigns, Dean Ambrose and a Mystery Partner

Dolph Ziggler once again takes on Rusev in a match that I will struggle to be interested in. I'm not really sure about this one but I'm taking a chance on Ziggler winning here.
Predicted Winner: Dolph Ziggler

Ryback will defend his Intercontinental Championship against Kevin Owens. This is a match that I'm really looking forward to see and I'm going for Owens to win his first major Championship here.
Predicted Winner: Kevin Owens

The Tag Team Championships will be defended as The Dudley Boyz challenge The New Day (sucks!) I'm torn on this one as I can see either team winning. However, I feel that the Dudleys winning would be a step back so I'm going for The New Day to win.
Predicted Winners: The New Day

Charlotte will challenge Nikki Bella for the Divas Championship. Whilst the Divas Revolution has been quite entertaining, it needs something major to happen for it to continue. Therefore, I'm going for Charlotte to win.
Predicted Winner: Charlotte

I feel sorry for my current favourite wrestler Seth Rollins as he will be pulling double duty. First, he will defend his United States Championship against John Cena. Yeah...Cena is not going to lose 2 PPV matches in a row. Cena to win here.
Predicted Winner: John Cena

Then, Rollins will defend his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Sting. Whilst I feel that Sting winning would be a step backwards, I feel that Rollins will end up without any Championships after this. Therefore, Sting to win here.
Predicted Winner: Sting

I hope to watch this within the week and publish my Summerslam review during that time as well. Until then, I hope you guys enjoy the show.

WWE Battleground 2015 Review

WWE Battleground took place on Sunday 19th July at the Scottrade Center in St Louis. Will Brock Lesnar get his revenge on Seth Rollins and reclaim the WWE World Heavyweight Championship? Let's take a look.

The first match was Randy Orton taking on the new Mr Money in the Bank Sheamus. Highlights of the match include: Sheamus constantly rolling out of the ring; Orton reversing a Brogue kick into  a powerslam; and Orton hitting a second rope DDT. The end comes when Sheamus hit a Brogue kick followed by a Texas cloverleaf. Orton eventually manages to get out of it and hit the RKO to get the win.  It was a strong opening match in front of a home crowd for Orton.
Winner: Randy Orton
Predictions: 1 for 1

The next match was for the Tag Team Championships as The Prime Time Players defend against The New Day (sucks!) Titus is dominant to start with before tagging in Young. Young loses control and gets a beating from The New Day. Young manages to hit an enziguiri on Big E and gets the hot tag to Titus. Big E goes for the big ending but Young avoids it and hits Kofi with the gut check. Titus then hits the spine buster on Big E to get the win. It was another good match and everyone had a chance to shine here.
Winners: The Prime Time Players
Predictions: 2 for 2

Next was Roman Reigns taking on Bray Wyatt. Highlights of the match include: Reigns countering a headlock into a belly-to-back suplex; Reigns hitting 2 pumphandle grip fallaway suplexes; Wyatt hittting an uranage; and Reigns getting out of a Sister Abigail and hitting a Superman punch. The end comes when Reigns stated tossing chairs into the ring and a hooded guy attacks him. Wyatt seizes the opportunity to hit an uranage followed by a Sister Abigail to get the win. Afterwards, the hooded man was revealed to be Luke Harper, reuniting with Wyatt. The match started quite slow but it got better towards the end. However, I wasn't really a fan of the finish and it seems that Reigns won't be near the title picture for the foreseeable future.
Winner: Bray Wyatt
Predictions: 3 for 3

The next match was Brie Bella (with Nikki Bella and Alicia Fox) taking on Charlotte (with Paige and Becky Lynch) taking on Sasha Banks (with Naomi and Tamina) in a triple threat match. Charlotte and Sasha clear out and face each other one on one but Brie later on hit a running bulldog on both of them. Later on, Sasha dropkicked Brie out of the ring onto the Divas aruging outside. Sasha then flew through the ropes onto them followed by Charlotte doing a plancha. Sasha applies the Bank Statement on Charlotte and it was broken up by Brie. However, Charlotte puts Brie into the figure-eight leglock to get the win. This match was quite enjoyable and I think that Charlotte and Sasha had strong main roster debuts.
Winner: Charlotte
Predictions: N/A

We now get the United States Championship as Kevin Owens challenges John Cena. Early on, Owens is dominant over Cena, hitting a torture rack into a neckbreaker for a nearfall. Other highlights include: Owens mocking the You Can't See Me; Cena applying the STF; Owens hitting a release German suplex followed by a cannonball splash; and Owens hitting the AA then applying the STF. Cena hit a super AA but Owens kicked out then later on, got an inside cradle for a 2 count. However, Cena manages to apply the STF and Owens tapped out, giving him the victory. This was another good match between the two and Owens looked really well not just in this match but over the last few months. The question is how will the WWE follow it up?
Winner: John Cena
Predictions: 4 for 4

The main event is Brock Lesnar attempting to regain his WWE World Heavyweight Championship back from Seth Rollins. As soon as the bell sounded, Lesnar charged Rollins and proceeded to hit him with 5 German suplexes. Rollins tries to leave but Lesnar cuts him off and hits another German suplex. Rollins manages to get back into it after blocking a F5 and knocking Lesnar out of the ring. However, it wasn't for long as Lesnar hit another 8 German suplexes. Lesnar hits the F5 then covers but the lights go out and a bell tolled. The lights came back on revealing the Undertaker. After a brawl, Taker hit a Tombstone (the referee had seemed to have disappeared during this point). Taker goes on to hit another Tombstone then makes his way to his way to the top of the stage with his music playing and blue fog filling the arena.

Up until the end, I was enjoying the match, I've become a big fan of Rollins over the last year and I was wondering how he would fare against Brock, who WWE have made into a version of the Terminator. However, I did not like the ending. I always wondered if Taker would try and get his revenge on Brock on ending the Streak. However, it begs the question of “Why now?” as it's been over a year since then and Taker had wrestled at Wrestlemania without any mention of what Brock did. If it was me, I would have Taker do it at the main event of Wrestlemania, which would given Rollins the opportunity to cash in the Money in the Bank briefcase. Anyway, it looks like we are going to have Taker-Lesnar II at Summerslam and I am looking forward to that match.
Winner: No Contest
Predictions: 4 for 5

I quite enjoyed Battleground. At the minute with work, I don't get to see the events until weeks after they finished. It's a shame as I would have liked to have seen this live. However, I did not like the way that this PPV ended as Taker's logic doesn't make sense. I could argue that it's WWE logic but even that is pushing it.

WWE Money in the Bank 2015 Review

WWE Money in the Bank 2015 took place on Sunday June 14th at the Nationwide Arena in Columbus, Ohio. This is one of my favourite events of the year and we get to see a potential WWE World Heavyweight Champion. So, who will it be? Let's take a look.

After a ten bell salute for Dusty Rhodes, who passed away that week; we get the Money in the Bank match. The competitors are Randy Orton, Neville, Corporate Kane, Dolph Ziggler, Kofi Kingston, Sheamus and Roman Reigns. Highlights of the match include: Sheamus hitting Ziggler with white noise; Reigns powerbombing Kofi onto a ladder then powerbombing Neville on top of him; and Orton pulling Neville off the ladder into a RKO. After Reigns does an over the top suicide dive to the wrestlers, Big E and Xavier Woods from The New Day (sucks!) run in and try to help Kofi win the match. Reigns takes out Big E and Woods then pulls Kofi off and powerbombs him onto everyone on the outside. Reigns then spears Orton and starts to climb up the ladder. Suddenly, Bray Wyatt appears, pulls Reigns off the ladder and hits him with the Sister Abigail. This gives Sheamus the chance to climb up the ladder and grab the briefcase to win the match.

I quite enjoyed this match and there were some good spots. I was convinced that, with the way the WWE have pushing him, Roman Reigns would win the match. I was surprised that Sheamus won instead. I'm not sure if Sheamus would become the World Heavyweight Champion or be the 3rd ever person to cash in and fail; but it will be interesting to see what they do with him.
Winner: Sheamus
Predictions: 0 for 1

Next is the Divas Championship match with Paige challenging Nikki Bella. Paige does a rolling senton to Nikki on the outside but Nikki responds by bouncing Paige off the barrier. Nikki keeps on the pressure with a chinlock and a springboard suplex. Paige gets back into it and hits the RamPaige for 2. When they knock each other out of the ring, Brie Bella comes from under the ring to do their Twin Magic bullshit. Paige then reverses a small package attempt to win the match. Or so she thought. Brie then tells them that he isn't Nikki. The referee, instead of disqualifying the Bellas, continues the match and Nikki slides in and hits the Rack Attack and win the match. Up until the end, it was a good match. I'm a big fan of Paige and the Bellas are continuing to show improvement. However, the end ruined it. It was nice to see Twin Magic backfire for once but everyone is saying that Nikki should have been disqualified. Also, Twin Magic is getting ridiculous. Not only does Nikki have breast implants but their hair is now different. The referees are obviously thick as shit in the WWE.
Winner: Nikki Bella

Predictions: 0 for 2

The next match is for the Intercontinental Championship as Big Show challenges Ryback, with Hollywood Miz on guest commentary. Almost immediately, Ryback stopped a charging Show with a spear followed by a meat hook clothesline. Show cut off Ryback and hit some power offense and slaps to the chest. Ryback ducked the KO punch to go for the Shell Scock but Show hit him and knocked him out of the ring.  When Show rolled Ryback into the ring, Miz attacked Show with the mic, causing a disqualification. Miz then attacked Ryback. This match was at a fast pace, which was surprising. I don’t quite get Miz’s motivations to attack them but I assume he has his reasons.
Winner: Big Show
Predictions: 0 for 3

Next is John Cena taking on Kevin Owens (again). Highlights of the match include: Owens reversing an AA into a release German suplex; Owens kicking out of the AA twice; Cena kicking out of the pop-up powerbomb; and Cena applying the STF followed by a modified Styles Clash. In the end, Cena manages to hit the AA for a third time to get the win. Afterwards, Owens responds to Cena’s offer of a handshake by shaking his hand then kicking him in the gut then powerbombing him onto the ring apron. I really enjoyed this match and it really sold Owens well. I’m slightly worried that he will go back to NXT and won’t get called up again for a while. However, I don’t think that will happen.
Winner: John Cena
Predictions: 1 for 4

The penultimate match is for the Tag Team Championships as The Prime Time Players challenge Xavier Woods and Big E from The New Day. Woods and Big E beat down on Young before O'Neill gets tagged in. A couple of minutes later, O'Neill hits Woods with a turnaround spinebuster to get the win, making The Prime Time Players the new Tag Team Champions. This has a very short match and I didn't think it would end with a spinebuster. Anyway, congratulations to the Prime Time Players.
Winners: The Prime Time Players
Predictions: 1 for 5

The main event is a ladder match for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship as Dean Ambrose challenges Seth Rollins. Highlights of the match include:  Ambrose hitting a butterfly overhead suplex into the ladder; Rollins applying a figure four around the ringpost; them brawling in the crowd; and Rollins powerbombing Ambrose into the barricade. The end comes when Rollins powerbombs Ambrose into a pile of chairs then buries him underneath them. Rollins climbs up the ladder but Ambrose gets out of the pile and goes after him. They both take the belt off the rung and fall off the ladder. Ambrose loses his grip on the belt as they hit the mat, making Rollins the winner. Afterwards, Triple H and Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley come out and celebrate with Rollins. This was a really good match and I really liked the ending.
Winner: Seth Rollins
Predictions: 2 for 6

I thought that Money in the Bank was a good PPV with some good matches. However, I was disappointed that the match that the event is named after was on first and I was surprised that Sheamus won. It looks like they see Sheamus as future Champion. However, I thought that when Sandow won in 2013 and looked what happened.
